Building Resilience. Reducing Risk.
On March 19, 2026, community members, healthcare professionals, educators, prevention specialists, first responders, and local organizations gathered in Nogales for the 2026 SOSA Summit. This year's theme, Building Resilience. Reducing Risk., highlighted the importance of working together to support the health and well-being of our communities.
Throughout the day, attendees had the opportunity to learn from local experts on topics related to mental health, substance use prevention, recovery, trauma, and community wellness. Breakout sessions covered a variety of important topics, including trauma-informed approaches, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), overdose prevention, stigma reduction, youth substance use prevention, recovery support services, and strategies for building stronger, more resilient communities.

One of the most valuable parts of the summit was the opportunity to connect with others doing this work across Southern Arizona. Attendees shared ideas, resources, and experiences while learning about programs and services available throughout southern Arizona. These conversations reinforced the importance of collaboration and the role each of us plays in supporting individuals, families, and communities.

We were also honored to welcome Roderick Logan from the Arizona Trauma Institute as this year's keynote speaker. His message on resilience, healing, and the impact of trauma provided valuable insight and left attendees with practical tools they can use in both their personal and professional lives.

Events like the SOSA Summit remind us that meaningful change happens when organizations and community members come together around a common goal. By continuing to strengthen partnerships, share knowledge, and support one another, we can help reduce stigma, increase access to resources, and build healthier communities for everyone.
The SOSA Consortium would like to thank all the presenters, sponsors, and planning committee members, and attendees who helped make this year's summit a success. We look forward to continuing this work together and finding new ways to support the individuals, families, and communities we serve.
