Baboquivari High School Health Career Club Launched

SEAHEC held its first meeting with the Health Career Club at Baboquivari High School (BHS) on November 15, 2011 and it was great! A total of 26 students participated. We provided lunch for the students for our first meeting. SEAHEC intern, Stephine Baloo and I created and presented a three minute digital story of ourselves and our “pathway to health careers” as our introduction to them.
Local physician presented award for tutelage

Dr. Patrick Martinez of Carondelet Holy Cross Hospital has been presented the Outstanding Preceptor of the Year Award by the Southeast Arizona Area Health Education Center (SEAHEC).
According to SEAHEC, the award is meant to recognize clinicians who take the time to work with medical and health professions students who complete their clinical rotations in rural and medically underserved communities in Southern Arizona.
SEAHEC Future Healthcare Leaders Students visit Grand Canyon University
On November 4th 2011, eighty- five students from the SEAHEC Health Career clubs from Douglas, Bisbee, Nogales, Rio Rico and Tucson high schools participated in the “Grand Canyon University 26th Annual Health Sciences and Nursing Day”. Over 1,000 students from all over the state attended.
