2014 Summer Camps

SEAHEC’S Future Healthcare Leaders Clubs participated in two summer camps this June. Members of the Tohono O’odham FHL Clubs at Baboquivari and Tohono O’odham High Schools met on the Tohono O’odham Community College Campus for a week of scientific inquiry, career exploration, and traditional skill building activities. Five students from the Rio Rico and Nogales High School Clubs traveled to Phoenix to join the AHEC Future Healthcare Leaders Summer Camp hosted at Grand Canyon University. SEAHEC, Tubac Firefigthers Host Med-Start Students

Medstart students with firefighters, Andres Egerrola, Martin Lujan, Freddie Figueroa, Bennie Martinez Tubac, June 25, 2014 Thirty eight Med-Start students met at Tubac Fire Station #3 this week to work with SEAHEC and Tubac Firefighters to learn about emergency services. SEAHEC’s Program Coordinator for Continuing Education, Suzanne David provided training in: How to use a fire extinguisher, extricating a patient from a wrecked auto, amublance operations and air ambulance operations. They also learned about poisonous creatures of the desert. Med-Start is a summer academic enrichment program, offered by the University of Arizona, for any 11th grade Arizona high school student interested in a health career. Students participate in the program during the summer between their junior and senior years.
